My name is
Richard Kraneis (that's my
son Fritz and I on the right) and I've decided to bring my computer
training to you. Are you disappointed with Excel
classes and books that are either too simple or too
complex? When's the last time you read a computer
book that was short, immediately useful,
and worth your time?
If you
check my short
bio you will find that
I have earned a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. in
Management. I have taught approximately 10,000
people how to use computers around Chicago, IL, USA,
over the past 12 years. At least 3000 of those
clients were in Excel classes.
I know,
on the Internet it's hard telling who is real and who
isn't. Stay a while, read this web page, get to
know my style and what I can do for you. I love
using Excel and it's my plan to help you enjoy it also,
quickly.
Remember, you can build better Excel macros, starting
today.

One

The
World's Shortest Excel Book is still very young.
But the review you see below was from Glenda
of Kansas, U.S.A. Glenda purchased my e-book in
January, 2004. Glenda made my day.

Reading your 28
pages was well worth the small investment!
I've had no "formal" training in Excel, but use it
daily--for
many things, and find it difficult to
function without it. But, I tend to not
use it to its capability, only because I don't know
what it is. You've given just enough
information in 28 pages to stir the creative juices
and begin to explore and experiment. Thanks
for the inspiration! It's pretty embarrassing
to find that there were shortcuts and smarter ways
of doing things that I've been doing for years... |

I also want to
thank you for an excellent publication. I
would say that I knew about half of the content, but
that the half I didn't, was invaluable. |

Hi
Richard,
I just
3 seconds ago sent an email to Debbie Weil and
asked her to tell you that I had bought your book
right after reading her good comments. I, in
Montreal, read Debbie's column who brings me to
your page, so that I can buy this little booklet
that will certainly help me improve my Excel
skills (which is about time at 41...).
Good
luck with your online sales ! Merci.

First Email: Thanks for
saving my butt last week with your book. I was
totally lost in pivot tables with over 10,000 source
records. I paid the 17 smackers just to learn how
to sort of work with them. I can't
say it was comprehensive, but you DO have a gift for
stating the obvious. THEY MOVE.
Perfection.
Second Email: I'm a
quick study, but am so busy just trying to get
THROUGH things that I don't have time to sit down
with a manual and digest it all. You do have a
talent for getting the important information across
in a concise and easy to follow manner. You
may certainly use my comments, and hey, keep those
cards and letters coming. I'll look for more
goodies as they're available. |

So much is packed into
these 28 pages, I know that I will use your book as
a standard from which I judge other Excel books. It
is written in clear, easy to understand language
and the examples are reliable and utilize the very
features you profile. I would recommend this book
to anyone who uses Excel - what a great addition to
your computer library. |

To be honest: there are so many excel-books. The
only reason why I bought yours was the fact ...
that it is so short. I learnt Pivot in 10 minutes!
Great!

Dear Mr. Kraneis;
I bought your book over the weekend and cant get
over how simple it all was!! I was certified in
Lotus (DOS) in 1995, but have always worked in
Excel, mostly just simple spreadsheets. Only
recently have I been called upon to utilize all the
Excel features and I was really struggling. In fact
I lost out on a promotion because my pivot table
skills couldn't beat the competition.
Thank you so much for your practical, down to earth
book. In just one weekend I can now do practically
anything the advanced skills test would
require---and it all makes sense! I have bought
other "quick study" books and never could get
through them.
Your clear, precise explanations and instructions on
the most practical of tasks has opened up a world of
possibilities in Excel that I assumed could only be
obtained in one of those expensive Excel training
courses.
Our company uses Excel extensively and I am going to
recommend to the staff development department that
they consider buying books for each employee as a
part of training. (after I pass my test, of course) |

Richard - Just a note
to say thanks for taking the time to publish your
World's Shortest Excel Book. As a
long time Excel user (& lotus before that), I can
honestly say it was a good refresher for me ..and I
picked up a few new ideas. You know how spreadsheet
lovers like to discover & use new ideas. |

You

#1:
You receive Excelling with Macros.
The
e-book is 60 pages long with 7 practice macros for you
to build. You can learn macros from the basics
onward. If you need a macro e-book to get you
started, this is the e-book to choose. If you are
looking to advance your macro skills, this e-book will
also help you.
#2:
You receive Seven Excel Macro Mini-Projects.
You need
sample problems for learning and building your macro
skills. Here are the 7 macro projects from my
e-book.
- Your first macro. Building a
macro to print ranges.
- The PasteCustomer macro.
This is a macro I built to process my e-book sales.
It's a real macro taken from a real business
environment.
- The
PasteSale macro. This is another macro for
adding a new sale to a sales database.
- The QC macro. QC means
quality control. And, this macro helps you
colorize formulas in any spreadsheet in living color.
-
The Faulty macro.
One of the reasons that macros malfunction is because
people fail to understand the difference between
absolute and relative recording. This macro
example teaches you the difference.
- The Insert Blank Rows macro.
A macro that inserts a blank row of data before every
valid row of data. Plus, we use the Internet to
find a solution to this macro.
- Brian's Rainy Day macro.
On a
rainy Saturday morning I helped a potential client
build a macro in 45 minutes via emails over the
Internet. The macro completed in 2 minutes what
would have taken him 5 hours. And, this macro
saves him time every month.
#3:

The
Richard Kraneis Promise
In the
United States my last name is pretty unique. In the
U.S. there are only 3 Kraneis names listed in the entire
phonebook. So, I take my name and my
workmanship pretty seriously. I know your
skepticism and doubt when buying an e-book. Is this e-book really
worth it's price? Does this e-book have value?
Who is the author? What is his or her credibility?
As for me and my credibility, I am a
computer teacher of over 10,000 in the Chicago, IL, USA area.
In the classroom, I have taught people from all
backgrounds and professions how to use Word, PowerPoint,
Access, other software, and last but not least, Excel.
Here in
Chicago, IL, USA, on many older sidewalks, you will see that a
craftsman imprinted his name with a stamp onto the
sidewalk he built. They took pride in their
work. I feel the same way about my e-books.
My name is
Richard Kraneis
and
I gave my best effort in
writing Excelling with Macros.
I hope you enjoy it and learn from it.
